Coconut oil presents a promising, but perplexing obesity treatment. Public health officials in the United States warn that you should avoid coconut oil because of its fat content and its link to high blood pressure and heart disease. Once again we need to question what health officials real intent is! Research has demonstrated, however, that coconut oil may be different, and with a Low-Glycemic diet and increased physical activity, it may help shed those extra pounds that you have had a difficult time loosing.

Coconut oil is a tropical oil, in the same family as Palm and Shea Nut oils. It is a common ingredient in the diets of many people in tropical regions, but in the United States, it’s used sparingly and found most often in processed foods, like fried meats, whipped toppings, candies and crackers. It is also known for its antibiotic properties in that it has been used to inactivate some viruses, bacteria and fungi. For example, it has been used to treat head lice.
